Moving abroad - How to cancel the contract?

Hello! I moved to the Netherlands a year ago and signed my phone contract with T-Mobile. I intended to have a contract with the duration of 12 months but somehow there was a misunderstanding (probably language barriers) and I have recently discovered that after all my contract does not end until March 2018. However, since I finished my studies, I am moving out of the Netherlands and, for that reason, I would like to end my contract. I have been to a T-Mobile store already but unfortunately they could not help me with this question. If someone could tell me what I should do in this case, I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the forum.

It is sometimes possible to prematurely terminate your subscription at T-Mobile NL when you emigrate to a country where T-Mobile is also active.

You move to another country where T-Mobile operates? Then you can use a switching capability. This means that you enter into a T-Mobile contract in the new country, and we terminate the subscription in the Netherlands. Switching is possible with:
- Germany - Austria
- Hungary - Poland
- Croatia - Slovakia
- Macedonia - Czech Republic
- Montenegro - USA


I don't know where you are going to but is you don't want to take your contract with you to a other country there are 3 options left:

- You may cancel your contract
- You can take over your contract by someone who lives / continues in the Netherlands.
- You can continue using your subscription abroad, obviously you do not call as beneficial as in the Netherlands

Hi Philip,

I would like to give you more details. We offer the opportunity to transfer your contract to another country that offers T-Mobile services. Germany is ofcourse a country where T-Mobile operates so if you have a T-Mobile subscription there your Dutch contract will be terminated for free. All you have to do is send us your files to international.transfers@t-mobile.nl you can also ask for further information if you e-mail that address.

I logged into my t-mobile account and I don't see any information that the account is ending soon. Can you confirm that my contract will be terminated within a few days?

You can choose to cancel your subscription online on this page if you click on ''Zeg je abonnement op''. Please keep in mind there is a 1 month notice which means if you cancel today your subsumption will be canceled next month. Please let me know if this works otherwise i will cancel it for you myself!

Alright! I just ended your contract, so it will stop on 05/07/2019. I've sent you an e-mail to confirm this.

To answer your question: the invoice is always for the month ahead, so you will indeed get another invoice for a whole month. Of course we will correct these costs on the final invoice. So if you paid too much, we will make sure this is corrected on the final invoice. You will receive this last invoice some time after your contract has ended, so don't worry about that!

Yes please, i would like you to terminate my contract now, so it will stop at the beginning of July.

But i have another question. I get invoiced in the 26th of every month, so what will happen? Will i get invoiced in the 26th of June, and then again in the 4th of July for only the few days from 26th to 4th?

Thanks for your question!

There's a one-month notice period, so we can set the end date one month after you tell us to stop the contract. Do you want me to end the contract in a month? It will then stop at the beginning of July.

Hi,

I am also coming back to Spain in July, but my contract expired some days ago, so as today i have no permanent contract.

The thing is, i would like to cancel my contract by the end of June, but i don't know if i have to notify you guys some days in advance, or i can just call any day and cancel my contract right away.
Could you please tell me how exactly i can do it in my case?

You're contract has been terminated, so you will have one month till the subscription is completely out of use.

The current invoice is not included, since the termination has one month term of notice, so the current invoice has to be paid and isn't included in the termination fee. Let us know if we can process the termination for you!

If you give me the permission, I can terminate the contract for you! I see the end date of the contract is 20-11-2019, so you will have to pay 50% of the monthly contract costs without discounts. Is that okay for you? Let us know so we can arrange it for you! ☺

Unfortunately, that's not possible. If you want to pay off the remainder of your contract you have to do so with the last invoice, which in your case would be in February. We can't postpone this to another month in the future.

To set your mind at peace; there is no renewal in place, it just says that your eligible for a renewal on the 30th of June.

If you were to cancel your contract today (with one month notice), your contract would be terminated on February the 14th. This would cost you a remaining fee of €78,88. This can change a little bit, depending when you give us an agreement to terminate the contract.

And how to stop the renewal of my contract? It is said that it will be renewed on 30th of June. Could you possibly stop the renewal now?
