Hello,

I have a UniFi dream machine (UDM) and a ZYXEL VMG8825-T50.

In order to not have double NAT I understand I need to set a static IP for the UDM (198.162.1.2) and put this IP in the DMZ, which I did.

When I go to the UDM, I can see its WAN IP is the one the ZYXEL assigned (198.162.1.2), and not the external IP of the ZYXEL (31.21.XX.XX in my case).

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks, Shimi

Hello @shimi

A static IP can be set by adjusting the DHCP pool to 192.168.1.10 - 192.168.1.254 and then 2 to 10 are static ip addresses or when you are logged in in the Zyxel > menu > netwerkinstelling > thuisnetwerk > statische DHCP > create a new rule and select 192.168.1.2 (UDM) under apparaat informatie, other fields will be filled automatically and don't forget to make the rule active.

Putting 192.168.1.2 in DMZ is quite simple by going toenu > netwerkinstelling > NAT > DMZ.

DMZ is like a port forwarding for all ports.

Hi @Waqqas

Thank for the explanation.

I did as you suggested (adjusting the DHCP pool, and setting the static IP+DMZ).

So, if I understand you correctly, there is nothing wrong with the fact the UDM IP is 192.168.1.2, right?

In this case, how can I solve the double NAT?

Thanks again, Shimi

@shimi

DMZ doesn't solve disconnecting issues as I mentioned in the other topic you replied in.

Your gateway IP is 192.168.2.1 right? Can you change that to 192.168.0.1 and see if it works better?

I have read somewhere that 192.168.1.1, 192.168.2.1, 192.168.3.1 and 192.168.4.1 are used for the LAN ports of the Zyxel. for someone else this change worked.

How to get rid of double NAT, I don't really know...

Hi @shimi, have you managed to have the correct IP in your UDM and not the one assigned by router ZYXEL VMG8825-T50? I have the same problem.
